The Recioto of Tenuta Santa Maria

It is with great pleasure that we are announcing the introduction of our Recioto Classico della Valpolicella to our Classico wines

The Recioto of Tenuta Santa Maria

Recioto has always been one of the wines of reference of the Veronese production and has an ancient history that goes back to before the Roman era: it was called Raeticum or Acinaticum at that time. It is from Recioto that, in the 1920s, the modern Amarone Classico was born – noteworthy Amarone was originally called “Recioto Tipo Secco”.

The selection process of the native Veronese grapes is the same one used for our Amarone and takes place in vineyards on the estate of Arbizzano di Negrar, but in this case the drying process is extended up to 160 days

Great attention is paid throughout the winemaking process, from the harvest to the bottle, in order to obtain an intriguing balance between sweetness, acidity and a tasteful cleanliness of its bouquet of aromas. These characteristics give our Recioto a pleasantness which is rare to find in a dessert wine.

Our Recioto Della Valpolicella Classico is available from today in limited quantities but will be produced with continuity in every vintage favorable to the drying of the grapes.
