Verona Piano Festival – Form and virtuosity

On Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, at 9:00 pm, Tenuta Santa Maria in Negrar di Valpolicella hosts one of the most anticipated evenings of Verona’s summer music season: “Forma e virtuosismo” (“Form and Virtuosity”), a piano recital presented by the Verona Piano Festival.

The evening’s protagonist is Bohdan Terletskyy, a young Ukrainian pianist and winner of the latest edition of the Verona International Piano Competition. His programme builds a tight dialogue between different musical eras and geographies: it opens with the Spanish vitality of Liszt, moves through the impressionistic brilliance of Ravel, and continues with the lyrical tension of Schumann’s Études. Bach’s Prelude in B minor, in Siloti’s refined transcription, restores harmonic balance and depth, before the evening reaches its peak with Ginastera’s Sonata — a true pillar of 20th-century Latin American piano music and a bridge between European tradition and Argentine folkloric identity.

The evening will also include a guided tour of the villa and a wine tasting, following the format that has long characterised the Festival’s evenings in the region’s historic residences.

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, in 2005, Bohdan Terletskyy began studying piano at the age of seven, training at the “S. Krushelnytska” Specialized Music School in Lviv under Professor Oksana Rapita. His career has been marked by international recognition: first prize at the XIII International Volodymyr Krainev Competition for Young Pianists (Kharkiv, 2018), first prize and gold medal at the International Competition in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz (Kyiv), and the Grand Prix at the Piano Talents Competition in Milan.

Since 2023, he has continued his studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, in the Fundación Banco Santander Piano Chair, under Professor Milana Chernyavska. He has performed at international festivals such as LvivMozArt and Discovering Paderewski, with concerts in Poland and the United States.

Now in its 14th edition, the Verona Piano Festival — organised by the Associazione Musicale Liszt 2011 — brings classical music to the most evocative locations in and around Verona: historic villas, churches, bastions and courtyards become a diffuse stage for a 2026 programme of twenty-three evenings, running from June 8th to November 23rd. Alongside the concerts, the Festival offers guided tours of the venues and wine tastings, in an ongoing dialogue between music, art and territory.
